The Finnish Final was held at the YLE TV Studios in Helsinki on February 22nd, hosted by Kari Lumikero. The winner was chosen by an “expert” jury.

Kari Kuivalainen came 15th at the ESC. Kirka represented Finland in ESC 1984. Irina Milan was a backing singer for Finland in ESC 1980. Sonja Lumme represented Finland in ESC 1985. Gruppo Jokke was Jokke Seppälä, Anita Pajunen, Rele Kosunen & Leena Nilsson. Jokke Seppälä was a backing singer for Finland in ESC 1983, 1984 & 1985. Anita Pajunen was a backing singer for Finland in ESC 1984 & 1985. Rele Kosunen was a backing singer for Finland in ESC 1985. All 3 went on to be amongst Kari Kuivalainen’s backing singers at the ESC.
